Guy Robert “Bob” Parkins, 66, of Cheyenne, died on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 in Cheyenne.
He was born on February 20, 1948, in Lander, Wyoming and had lived here since 1970.
Bob grew up on a dairy farm outside Riverton, Wyoming, graduating from Riverton High School in 1966. After attending Casper College and graduating from the University of Wyoming, Bob began his career teaching vocational agriculture and later welding at East High School. Bob was instrumental in starting the school Ag Farm. He retired from LCSD #1 after 38 years. He touched the lives of thousands of students and gave many of them the skills they needed to develop successful careers. Bob was an avid outdoorsman. He loved his horses, fishing, and hunting pheasant with his dog, Belle. He and Susan had a passion for watching wildlife of all kinds. He was a member of St. Mary’s Cathedral and the Audubon Society.
Mr. Parkins is survived by his wife, Susan Parkins, whom he married on February 16, 2000, in Cheyenne; children, Gregory Parkins (Tanya) of Draper, Utah and Shanel McLenon (Rick) of South Jordan, Utah; stepchildren, Scott Pendleton of Parker, Colorado, Debbie Radomsky of Tucson, Arizona, and Pamela Pendleton of Cheyenne; mother, Eva Brazelton (Roy) of Cody; brother, Larry Parkins (Linda) of Cody; and ten grandchildren, Greydon and Ainsley Parkins, Kaitlin Mueller, Kaitlyn and Colton McLenon, Katy and Nikki Radomsky, Erin and Kylie Pendleton, and Anessa Bensley.
Bob was preceded in death by his father, Guy Parkins.
Visitation will be Friday, 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel.
Funeral Liturgy will be Saturday, 10:00 a.m., at St. Mary’s Cathedral.
Donations in Bob's memory may be made to Frontier Chapter FFA at East High School or High Plains Chapter FFA at Central High School.
A reception will immediately follow the services at the Kiwanis Community House in Lions Park.
