Glenn E. Ellenson

July 10, 1943 — January 15, 2016

Glenn (Mickey) E. Ellenson, 72, of Burns, Wyoming lost his battle with Parkinson’s disease on January 15, 2016. He was born July 10, 1943 in Spooner, Wisconsin to Glenn and Gertrude (Caldwell) Ellenson. Glenn and his wife met on a blind date while they were both serving In the Air Force at Otis AFB, Massachusetts. He served in the USAF from 1960 to 1969. He was an Air Policeman, sentry dog handler, and an illustrator. Glenn was stationed overseas in Iceland, Korea and Okinawa. Stateside postings included Duluth, Minnesota and Kincheloe, Michigan. He retired from the Bureau of Land Management in Cheyenne as a Cartographer. After retirement, he kept busy playing “nanny” to his granddaughter. Glenn enjoyed history, genealogy, was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Family was everything to him. “You take care of your friends and family; they will take care of you”, was one of his favorite sayings and a code he lived by. Before the progression of Parkinson’s, he was actively involved in Camp Fire Inc., enjoyed friends and family time, landscaping, hiking, and camping. Survivors include his wife Bea, as they would have celebrated their 50th anniversary on February 4, 2016, his daughter; Teri (Bill) Ostrander of Burns, granddaughter Kathryn Titus of Cheyenne, sisters; Diana (Pete) Markgraf, and Donna (Roger) Jiran of Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Gertrude, and a sister Glenda Oxford. In lieu of flowers Glenn requested that people “Plant a tree to remember me.” The family would like to extend a special “thanks” to everyone who supported Glenn during his fight with Parkinson’s. Contributions to the National Parkinson’s Foundation may be made in his memory. Per Glenn’s request, there will be no services. Cremation has taken place and online tributes can be sent to www.wrcfuneral.com .
