Gerald Norman Tanner, 86, died Thursday, January 26, 2018 at the Davis Hospice Center in Cheyenne, Wyoming. He was born, October 27, 1931 in Fort Morgan, Colorado, to Joseph and Ruth (Swanson) Tanner.
Gerald grew up in rural Colorado. After graduating from high school in Wiggins, Colorado, he joined the Navy, serving for four years during the Korean Conflict. In 1956 while driving for Greyhound Bus Lines he moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming.
Gerald married Patricia Prochaska on October 21, 1959 in Dubuque, Iowa at the Cathedral Church. They were happily married for 58 years.
Throughout his life, Gerald held a number of interesting jobs, including working for Convair installing Minuteman II missiles in and around Cheyenne. Gerald also had a lengthy career at the Frontier Refinery as a maintenance supervisor until he retired in 1993.
Gerald was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. He enjoyed reading, watching sports and spending time with his family.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Ruth Tanner; his brother Glenn Tanner and his daughter Elizabeth Radich.
Gerald is survived by his spouse Patricia; son, Craig (Ruth) Tanner of Fort Collins, CO; daughter, Angela (Glenn) LaBar Hereford, Arizona; son in-law, Charlie Radich of Cheyenne; grandchildren, Jonathan (Tammy), Matthew (Breezy), Mark and Emily; two brothers, Jim (Geni) and Bruce (Bobbie) and sister, Faye Cool.
Funeral Liturgy will be Monday at 10:00 a.m., at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., at Wiederspahn Radomsky Chapel. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to the American Diabetes Association (
