Gerald D. Elsasser

Gerald Elsasser, 88 of Cheyenne died June 7, 2019 in Cheyenne.
He was born August 12, 1930 in Wewela, South Dakota, son of William and Joy Elsasser. He spent most of his life in Nebraska, South Dakota and Wyoming. He served 4 years in the US Navy (1950-1954), serving aboard the LST1148 and the PCEC886, in Japan and Korea. He retired from the US Seabees Reserves RNCB15 in 1990. He worked as an electrician, bricklayer and was the proud owner of Elsasser Masonry for 30 years. He retired in 1990.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing and all sports. He was an avid bowler, golfer and dancer before having a severe stroke in 2005. He was a member of Our Saviour Lutheran Church, serving in many offices of the Church and is a lifetime member of the V.F.W Post 1881 and the American Legion Post 6.

He is survived by the love of his life of 64 years, Dorene (Huber) Elsasser, 5 children: Stephanie Loveland (Donnie) of Windsor, Colorado; Kevin Elsasser (Karen) of Cheyenne; Marcene Elsasser (Richard Howes) of Toronto, Canada; Jerry Elsasser of Cheyenne; Lynette Grandpre (David Martinez) of Henderson, Nevada; 7 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, brothers Wilbur Elsasser of Cheyenne, Willus Elsasser (Willene) of Gillette, Wyoming and Marlow Elsasser of Lincoln, Nebraska, sisters Hilma Wolcott of Citrus Heights, California , Delores Carson (Ronnie) of Mesa, Arizona and Jeanette Bonneventura of Papillion, Nebraska. Preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers and 2 sisters and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Monday, 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel.

Services will be Tuesday, 10:00 a.m., at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 5101 Del Range Blvd, Cheyenne Wyoming with Rev. Scheer and Rev. Baikie officiating.
Interment to follow at Memorial Gardens.
