George F. Kroman, 96, of Cheyenne, WY, passed away on July 12, 2019 at Aspen Wind in Cheyenne. He was born April 17, 1923 in Great Falls, MT, son of Frank and Helen Kroman. George met Lillian Mabel Johnson in high school in 1939 and the two were married in March of 1941. George enlisted in the Army Air Force in 1942 and graduated as a pilot in 1944. While in Texas and Mississippi he was a Navigational Instructor Pilot. His love of flying kept him in the Military as a pilot for 24 years. In 1948 he was transferred to Japan, and in 1950 he flew in combat tours, totaling 103 missions in the Korean Conflict. In 1951 he was stationed in England flying B-29’s, in 1959 he returned to the states and retired at FE Warren AFB as a Major in 1966. After the air force George worked in real estate and was also a manager of Knights of Columbus Hall. He was a member of St. Mary’s Cathedral, Knights of Columbus, Fraternal Order of Daedalians, Polka club, Cheyenne Country Club, and VFW. George loved golfing, hunting, fishing, dancing and playing Duplicate Bridge.
George is survived by his loving wife of 78 years, Lillian Kroman, one daughter; Audrey Mae and son -in-law Thomas Johnson of Cheyenne, 6 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren, and 3 nieces; Hope, Mary and Helena Hensley. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Clair Hensley, grandson; George Johnson Kroman, nephew; Frank Hensley, and one infant great-grandson. Vigil for the deceased will be held at 6pm at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel on Thursday July 18th. Funeral Liturgy will be at 10:30am at St. Mary’s Cathedral on Friday.
