George Culbertson Jackson

George Culbertson Jackson, 86, of Cheyenne passed away Oct. 12 at Davis Hospice Center.
George was born to Clyde and Bernice Jackson Dec. 7, 1927 on a ranch near Lamar, Co. At 5, his family moved to the Jackson-family mill near Kirwin, Ks., where George graduated from high school. In 1944, he enlisted in the Navy and served in the Pacific, subsequently enlisting in the Air Force. George married Doris Reynolds (1949) with whom he had 5 children. In 1968, he was stationed at Warren AFB, retiring in 1972. At 52, George completed a UW college degree. He worked 20 years for Montgomery Wards. In 1986, he married Joy Prosinski. For 15 years, into his 70’s, he fulfilled a lifelong dream by raising registered Black Angus cattle. George was an avid cribbage player, koi fancier, and ice cream aficionado. Throughout George’s life, he greatly valued duty to family, friends, and country. He gave everything from his heart.
George was preceded in death by 6 siblings and his sons Paul and Rex Jackson. He is survived by his wife Joy Jackson; brother Donald Jackson; his children Larry Jackson (Kay), Donna Collis (Steve), and Kerry Jackson; his daughter-in-law Jennifer Jackson (Paul); his wife’s children Edward (Eva), James (Dorothy), and Scott Prosinski, and Sheri Miller (Dennis); and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be Saturday, 10 a.m., at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Davis Hospice Center, 6000 Sycamore Rd., Cheyenne, WY 82009.
