George Derek Holroyd, 87, went home to be with the Lord on November 30, 2017 at Davis Hospice Center.
He was born August 25, 1930 in Greetland, York County, England to Friend and Gladys Holroyd. As a teen he served in the St. James Ambulance Brigade during WWII in England.
He immigrated to the USA in 1948. He worked in the printing trade until he joined the United States Air Force where he served for 3 years during the Korean Conflict. He became a US citizen in 1954.
George worked as a marriage and guidance counselor for many years. He served as the first director of the Life Choice Pregnancy Center.
He was a devout Christian, a member of Northwoods Presbyterian Church, the American Legion and Prairie promenades square dance club.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one infant grandson.
He is survived by his wife of many years, Jean. Three sons, Derek Holroyd and Daniel Holroyd of Cheyenne; Randall Holroyd of Rapid City, SD; three daughters, Rebecca (Andy) Randles of Allyn, WA; Catherine (Rick) Watson of Cheyenne; Karen (Henry) Goll of Portage, MI; 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held on Thursday, December 7, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel. Viewing will be Monday from Noon until 8:00 p.m; Tuesday all day and Wednesday until 4:00 p.m.
