George S. Geyer, Jr.

June 7, 1940 — August 20, 2021

George Geyer, age 81, of Cheyenne, WY, passed away on August 20, 2021 of complications from Covid (even though he was fully vaccinated). He attended and played football for Springdale High School and Grove City College, where he graduated in 1964. George was a beloved history teacher and football coach at Burrell High School until his retirement in 1995. Upon retirement he settled in Livingston, MT where he continued to coach football. In Cheyenne he worked in the Wyoming state legislature. George was active with Cheyenne Frontier Days volunteering in the Ticket Committee and then to the Parade Committee where he organized the Youth Program for the rodeo. He was an active and avid outdoorsman who loved hiking, fishing, camping, hunting, and traveling with Carol.
George is survived by his wife of 57 years, Carol (Bott) Geyer; his 3 daughters, Andie (Pat) Racioppi, Nikki (Keith) Barnes, Kris (Brandon) Cernicky; 4 grandchildren, AJ (Paula) Racioppi, Alaina Racioppi, Ashton Cernicky, Alexandra Cernicky; sister, Regina McCollum; brothers, Richard (Beverly) and Dr. Stanley (Mariann) Geyer; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents George and Helen (Hawley) Geyer.
There will be no visitation or public memorial service. George made no personal requests, however; in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your local football program or Cheyenne Frontier Days.
