George Sylvester Durako Jr. passed away of natural causes on Father's Day, June 21st, 2020 in Loveland Colorado. A long- time resident of Cheyenne he was born February 20th, 1942 in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
George served in the United States Air Force and that’s what brought him to Cheyenne where he met the love of his life Donna. They were married on August 10th, 1963 and after a few short years he separated from the military and they headed back to Pennsylvania. The lure of the west brought him back to Cheyenne permanently where he had lived until a recent move to Loveland Colorado. He had worked at a radio repair shop before his long Civil Service career started where many years in Civil Engineering at F.E. Warren Air Force Base.
George enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, astronomy and wood working. But the hobby he loved the most was that of a rockbound. Many weekends and vacations were spent in some remote desert or badlands in search of rocks, minerals, gems, and fossils. His house, garage, shed and basement were filled with the treasures he and his wife Donna had collected.
George was preceded in death by his wife Donna, his father George Sr., and his mother Mary.
George is survived by Son Michael (Heidi) Durako, children Kara, Tim and Tyler, Daughter, Diana (Vernon) Mauzy, children Samantha and Lindsay, and Son David (Jennifer) Durako and children Amber, Keela, Lainey, Kiefer, Pierce, and Brody. George is also survived by his sister, Dolores Gecsek, and several great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces.
Per their wishes, no services will be held, and George and Donna’s children will spread their ashes together at a later date.
