Genevieve (Saldivar) Perez, 92, of Cheyenne, Wyoming died Tuesday, March 29, 2016 in Denver on her 68th wedding anniversary.
She was born November 4, 1923 in Bettendorf, Iowa and lived in Cheyenne for 57 years before moving to Aurora, CO.
Genevieve was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and enjoyed singing with the Spanish choir. She was also a charter member of the Polka Lovers Klub of America, the Union Pacific Old Timers Club, the Moose Lodge, Cheyenne Post 6 and enjoyed shopping, dancing, needlework, photography and reading. She was known for her Mexican cooking and Christmas tamales.
She is survived by husband, John L. Perez of Aurora; two daughters, Victoria Montoya (James) of Aurora, Margie Esquibel (Robert) of Ogden, UT and one son, Thomas Perez (Robin), Titusville, FL, sisters, Celia Sanchez , Omaha, NE and Carolina Vigil, Ogden, grandchildren, Brian Esquibel (Meghan Barry), Christina Montoya, Lisa Esquibel (Russell Martens), Laura Cooper (Greg), Gina Montoya, Ian Perez and Josten Perez, great-grandson, Jaden Cooper with another great-grandson on the way as well as numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Simon and Belen (Macias) Saldivar, siblings, Marcelina Seja-Ackey, Rosie Hernandez, Margaret Lopez, Adelina Aragon, Steve Saldivar and grandson, Richard Montoya.
Pallbearers will be Thomas Perez, James Montoya, Robert Esquibel, Brian Esquibel, Ian Perez, Greg Cooper, Russell Martens and Dr. Robert Vera.
Funeral Liturgy will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday at St. Mary’s Cathedral. Interment will follow at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens.
