Gayle L. Stell, 80, of Cheyenne passed away Sept. 30 at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center.
She was born July 28, 1937, in North Platte, Neb.
Gayle graduated from Cheyenne High School in 1956. She moved to California in 1957 and worked for Hills Bros. Coffee. It was there she met the love of her life, Willard H. Stell, a member of the U.S. Air Force. They married in April 1958. During their military career they traveled to, and lived in, many countries throughout Asia and Europe. Gayle thoroughly enjoyed learning about and experiencing those local cultures.
She was a dedicated church member, and she enjoyed sewing and other crafts. She dedicated most of her life to raising her children as a mother and homemaker. They returned to Cheyenne permanently in 1982.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Will; her mother and father, Sylvia and Floyd Thompson; and her sister, Leanne Heifner.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Frances Stell of Austin, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Rhonda Stell of Hutto, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, Timothy and Beth Stell of Austin; and daughter and son-in-law, Lynette and Bill Paxton of Cheyenne. She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Deborah and Phil Galloway of Cheyenne; and her five grandchildren, Victoria Stell of Austin, Amanda Beardsley of Cheyenne, Chelsea Graeber of Boulder, Colo., and Miranda and Alex Stell of Austin.
Cremation has taken place at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel in Cheyenne.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Grace United Methodist Church, 2950 Spruce Drive. Interment will follow at F. E. Warren Air Force Base cemetery, where she will be reunited with her husband.
