Garland Robert “Bob” Peel Jr, 77, of Cheyenne, Wyoming,
passed away on August 14, 2022, losing his long fight after
suffering a burn injury to his leg and leading ultimately to
Pneumonia. This loss was completely unexpected, leaving
family and friends shocked and deeply saddened. He will be
truly missed.
Born in Rock Springs, Wyoming on April 3rd, 1945, most of his
life was spent with his large family in Wyoming. He was a
graduate of the University of Wyoming, following in his parents
footsteps.
Throughout the years, Bob enjoyed studying genealogy, enjoyed
vintage car shows, “guys night” around the fire in his backyard
and spending time with his large extended family. Bob was a
proud member of the Wyoming Air National Guard and
dedicated his time as Master Sargent up to retirement being an
active service member. Bob began and ended his career with
Cheyenne Light, Fuel & Power Company (now Black Hills
Energy) .
He was a very kind, loving, humble and supporting father,
putting others needs and concerns before his own. He was well
known for correcting his children’s grammar, making new
friends wherever he went and being “friendly” with women half
his age. He had a great sense of humor in any situation and
would routinely bring smiles to people’s faces wherever he
went. He was so dedicated to reaching out to his friends and
family on their birthday, always calling everyone on their special
day and every holiday. Holidays were important to him, an avid
photographer- he was notorious for capturing families’ “mug
shots” at each and every gathering! He also wasn’t afraid to let
you know that you were “cutting into his nap time”. He didn’t
need much to be happy and he lived his life on his terms. Dad’s
treasure was his dog, Duchess, his 1960 classic Austin Healey,
and his children (in this order).
Bob was preceded in death by parents, Garland Robert “Bud”
Peel (2000) and Norma June Healey Peel (2008) of Cheyenne,
and sister Emmy Louise Dunn of California (2022).
He is survived by his children; Angela Wendy (Brian) Harvey,
(Cheyenne, Wyoming), Jonathan Cody Peel, (Windsor,
Colorado), Kelly Nicole Castle (Cheyenne, Wyoming); his
grandchildren, Torrey Andrew (Heather) Harvey, (Price, Utah),
Justin Lee Harvey, (McFadden, Wyoming), Jennifer Blair
Harvey (Claude, Texas), Faith Trinity Peel (Provo, Utah), Macey
Nicole Castle (Cheyenne, Wyoming); and Great-grandchildren,
Axel Grey and Aria AnnaLee Harvey (Price, Utah), Addie Mae
Harvey (McFadden, Wyoming), Rodel Brian and Cash Seely
Heavilon (Claude, Texas), and Phoenix Paige Munlin (Claude,

Joseph Peel, Michael Francis Peel, Christopher John Peel and
David Brian Peel; and sisters, Joan Mary Mayden, Kathryn Ann
Schelby, Barbara Jean Powell, Alice Margaret Hill; Cecelia
Irene Clark and Marian Lenore Hertel.
He was a good man. His infectious smile and laugh will live on
forever.
