Gail Y. Brisson, 89, of Cheyenne, passed quietly into God’s gentle embrace on June 7. She was born on October 9, 1928 in Garrison, North Dakota to parents, Floyd and Julia Hill. Gail grew up in the farming community of Roseglen, North Dakota with her siblings, Donna and Eldon. She graduated from Ryder High School (Ryder, ND) and attended Business College in Wahpeton, ND.
While in college at Wahpeton, Gail met the love of her life, Jim Brisson. Gail and Jim were married on August 27, 1950, at First Lutheran Church in Minot, ND. They would have celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary this summer.
They moved to Cheyenne in 1955 where Jim taught math and was Dean of Boys at Johnson Junior High, later serving as assistant principal and eventually principal at Central High School. Gail was a proud mother and homemaker while later working secretarial positions at Tri-State Steel and St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
As a couple they were active members of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church where Gail was involved in church circles, Altar Guild and served as a Sunday School teacher. She was also active as a 4-H leader, member of Town & Country Women’s League, PEO and local bridge groups.
In 1977 Gail and Jim moved to Nebraska where they lived until they retired back to Cheyenne. Wintering in Mesa, AZ they enjoyed golfing, walking, traveling, cruising, and square dancing.
Gail is survived by her husband, Jim, her two daughters: Diane Hultgren (Paul), and Julie Brisson (Lark Birdsong); two grandchildren: Britt Hultgren Ramroop and Kajsa Hultgren; five great-grandchildren: Zaid and Kaia Ramroop, and Spencer, Kadynce and Amelia Haney. She is also survived by her sister, Donna Haugen (Don), and brother, Eldon Hill (Doris) and numerous nieces and nephews. Gail was preceded in death by her son, Douglas Brisson, and her parents, Floyd and Julia Hill.
A memorial service will be Sunday, July 1st, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church (218 E. 19th St., Cheyenne, WY 82001.)
