Frederick Carl Huckfeldt

Frederick Carl Huckfeldt, 92, of Cheyenne passed away, November 8, 2016. Fred was born on February 2, 1924, in Eustis, Nebraska to Charlotte (Moritz) and Frederick Henry Huckfeldt, was raised on the family farm in Nebraska until 1929 when his family moved to Veteran. Helping on the farm until December 7, 1941, on the Monday following the Pearl Harbor attack, he enlisted in the Army and served 2½ years overseas in a Searchlight Battery in Africa, Italy and finally the 78th Infantry Division in Germany.
Fred married Doris Edna Klemke of Lusk September 11, 1945, after asking her to wait for him to return from World War II. They were married for 69 years and lived in numerous towns throughout Wyoming. Fred was an active member of several Lutheran Church Missouri Synod churches.
Following the war, Fred farmed in the Veteran area; was a partner in Huckfeldt Livestock Trucking Company in Torrington; managed a ranch at Rock River; ran heavy equipment for the Albany County Road and Bridge; partnered with his son in an automotive repair business; and then drove truck until his retirement.
After retiring, Fred and Doris worked on seven different projects with Laborers for Christ building churches all over the United States. They spent several winters travelling the Southwest.
Fred was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and seven siblings.
He is survived by daughters Angela (Ken) Macy of Pine Bluffs; Joyce (Francis) Menke of Elk Mountain; and son, Matt (Linda) Huckfeldt of Cheyenne. Fred has eight grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, November 11, 2016, at King of Glory Lutheran Church, 8806 Yellowstone Ave., Cheyenne, WY. The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to King of Glory Lutheran Church or Grace English Lutheran Church in Pine Bluff
