Freda Ann (Simons) Wright of Cheyenne passed away on Tuesday July 5th after a long battle with cancer. “If nothing ever changes there would be no butterflies.” For 65 years the earth was graced with a rare butterfly. She found great joy in spending her time with family and friends. She shared strength when you had none of your own, wisdom when it was too hard to see in a storm, comfort during and after storms, and most of all beauty and love to all who were graced with being part of her life. She was born and raised in Yuma, CO. The youngest of eight children to Tony and Viola Simons. She married George Wright in 1971 and started their life together at the Air Force Base in Denver, CO. A few years later they had one child, Annette Mello. Freda spent most of her career working as a civilian for the Air Force. She was involved in many organizations including her sorority Beta Sigma Phi, Girl Scouts of America and the Genealogical Society. She has been recognized many times in her life including receiving Woman of the Year for Beta Sigma Phi in 2014. She is survived by her spouse George Wright, daughter Annette Mello, sister Florence Morris (Paul), brothers Ralph Simons(Jan) and Joseph Simons (Toni), grandchildren Calvin Hyland, Mishaela Hyland and Christopher Mello and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, two brothers Roy Gene and Frederick Simons and two sisters Sotonia and Marilyn .
There will be a memorial service held at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel at 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 11, 2016. Cremation has taken place at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens.
