Frank K. Young, passed away peacefully at the Cheyenne VA on September 4, 2016.
Frank was born August 28, 1921 in Hartford, Connecticut to Elizabeth and Frank Young. He was the oldest of 5 children. In his late teens, Frank came to Wyoming with the Civilian Conservation Corps., he was stationed at the CCC camp in Centennial. Frank returned to Connecticut and enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He was stationed in Hawaii as an aviation mechanic and later transferred to the Naval Air Station in Illinois. After his discharge he remained In Illinois where he met his wife, Nancy Spies. They were married in 1954 and had two daughters.
Frank moved his family to Laramie in 1965 and Centennial in 1968. He worked at the Old Corral, Medicine Bow Ski Area and was Self-Employed. Frank loved the outdoors, spending time snowmobiling, hunting, fishing and golfing. He also loved tying flies. Frank and Nancy later moved back to Laramie.
He was a member of the Moose Lodge, The American Legion and the Alco Rod and Gun Club.
Frank was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy; sister Audrey and brother Rudy.
Survivors include two daughters, Sandy (Gene) McCarty of Laramie; and Laura (Lang) Smith of Grove City, PA; grandchildren, David Edgar, Ashley (Clayton) Hahn, Kelly Smith and Conner Smith, sisters, Mona Graham and Betty Baker of Florida.
Cremation has taken place at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens under the direction of Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel. Private family services will be held at a later date.
