Frank Emil Morrow, 90, of Cheyenne, passed away early Friday morning, December 13, 2019, in Cheyenne, after a long struggle to overcome many health challenges that snuck up on him in the last year.
Frank was born January 4, 1929. He lived his entire life in Cheyenne, excluding one year spent in Honolulu, Hawaii, from 1969 to 1970, with his wife and children, working as an electrician on a project. Frank certainly made his lasting mark on the entire Cheyenne community, throughout his long life. He worked as a boilermaker in the late 40’s, served in the US 5th Army in the Korean Conflict. Served in the Army Reserve after returning to the US. During his time in the Reserve, he apprenticed with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 415. Frank progressed through the Ranks as Private First Class to Corporal to Sergeant, which was his final rank when receiving an Honorable Discharge in 1957. Frank also received his Journeyman Electrician’s license from the City of Cheyenne. During his apprenticeship, he met his soon to be wife, Meredith. It was love at first sight! They were married 6 months later, in 1954, and shared 41 wonderful years together. For their 35th Wedding Anniversary, they went to Seoul, Korea, where he was honored by the Mayor of Seoul, for his military service during the Korean Conflict.
Frank was highly active in the IBEW and eventually was elected President of the Local 415, a position he held for 24 years before retiring. Frank was presented with his 65 Year Card for his continuous membership and support of the Union, along with having mentored many of its’ members through the years. He served as Democratic Precinct Committeeman for many years; member of the Deacon’s Board at the First Congregational Church, also serving on the Construction Committee when the church moved from downtown to Forest Drive and Pershing Boulevard. Frank was also instrumental in the design and building of the bell tower that currently stands at the church. In recent years, he moved his church membership to the First United Methodist Church, downtown and continued to participate as best he could, with his declining health. After Meredith passed in 1995, Frank found his passion with singing through participation in the Capitol Choir, along with the Church Choir. He was actively involved with Frontier Days activities, and a staunch supporter of Cheyenne Little Theater. Other involvements are just too numerous to mention, with everyone receiving the blessing and benefit of his time, love, smile, humor and attention.
Mr. Morrow is survived by his children, Rachel Clingan (Billey) and Mark Morrow (Tina); a granddaughter, Charmayne Clingan; great-grandson, Patrick Adams; nephews Doug Morrow (Tammy), Jay Dee Dove, John Morrow (Judy), Leroy Morrow (Mary); step grand-nephew Michael Burge; and numerous grand-nieces and grand-nephews, as well as many great grand nieces and nephews. Frank was also blessed with three additional step-grandchildren (Tammy, Dawn, and Bill Jr), along with step-great grandchildren (Chase, Slade, Christian, Tangie, Echo, Clayton) and two great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Meredith Morrow; his parents, Clinton Morrow and Amanda Mae Rich; brothers Claude Morrow, Dick Morrow and Roy Morrow; sister Evelyn Elkins; Mother- and Father-in-Law Hope and Warren Ivers.
Visitation will be Tuesday, 5pm to 7pm, and Wednesday, 9am-5pm, at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel.
Please join us to celebrate the wonderful life of Frank Morrow, Thursday, Dec. 19, 2019, 10:00 am, at the First United Methodist Church, with graveside burial and military honors to follow at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens. Everyone is welcome to join the family back at the church for a reception and light lunch.
We are asking, in lieu of flowers, you are welcome to make a donation to the Stephen Ministries at the First United Methodist Church in Cheyenne. Our father spoke of this ministry often and was particularly comforted by their purpose of building Ministry Leaders to comfort those in distress.
