Frank Richard Chadwick, 83, of Cheyenne died February 7, 2016 at Davis Hospice in Cheyenne. He was born January 30, 1933 in Carr, Colo. He graduated from Cheyenne High in 1951. After graduating, he lived and worked in the Arctic putting up radio towers. He served as a Corporal in the United States Army during the Korean War. Frank retired from
Mountain Bell in 1983 after 27 years of service. He started as telephone company repairman and progressed to an engineer. He had several hobbies including gold mining near Fox Park, putting together model ships, airplanes, and cars.
In 1960, Frank married Judy Hansen in Laramie, Wyo. They were married for 25 years and had five children. Frank is survived by his children, Terry Chadwick (Cathie), Garry Chadwick (Rhonda) Dawn Starr (John), Kevin Chadwick (Kristie) and Heather Walock (Michael); ten grandchildren, Cortney Sutcliffe (Andrew), Christy Chadwick, Nicolas Chadwick, Megan Wilson (David), Daniel Bunning, Brianna Bunning, Michael J. Walock, Draven Starr, Grant Chadwick, and Leah Chadwick; six step-grandchildren Vanessa Bingham (Dustin), Samantha Townsend (Spencer), Vince Zakis, Laura Johnson (Tyler), Cory Walock (Kristine) and Justin Walock (Megan). Nine great-grandchildren and the first “Chadwick” great-grandchild on the way, Everly, to Megan and David Wilson; siblings, Muriel (Earl) Diemel, Lillian Saunders, and Rayburn Chadwick; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He enjoyed the company and friendship of his caregiver Tanya McLemore (Darrin Harris). He was an avid sports fan and followed the Wyoming Cowboys and Denver Broncos. On any given game day, you could find him sitting in his recliner with one game on his handheld radio and another on the TV. He was thrilled that the Broncos were going to the Superbowl and must have felt comfortable with the lead they had, as he left during the fourth quarter. Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Gracie Chadwick; and sister, Zelda Mordhorst and brother-in-laws, Marvin Mordhorst and Richard (Dick) Saunders.
Casket bearers are Garry Chadwick, Terry Chadwick, Kevin Chadwick, Darrin Harris, Michael Walock, and Andrew Sutcliffe. Honorary casket bearers are Nicolas Chadwick, Daniel Bunning, Draven Starr, Michael J. Walock, Grant Chadwick, and Dylan Sutcliffe.
Donations may be made in Frank’s honor to Faith United Methodist Church, 522 E. 6th Street, Cheyenne, WY, 82007.
