Francis E. Magrath Jr., 79, of Idaho Falls, Idaho died Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at Lincoln Court Retirement Community.
He was born April 6, 1937 in Cheyenne, a son of Francis E. and Emily (Disseler) Magrath Sr.
He is survived by his wife, Eveline Luella Magrath of Idaho Falls, Idaho; two sons, Kenneth Magrath of Thayne, Wyoming and Francis E. Magrath III of Orange, California; a brother, Michael Magrath of St. Louis, Missouri; two sisters, Patricia Rogers of Broomfield, Colorado and Emmeline Shipman of Cheyenne, Wyoming; nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson Christopher Magrath.
Francis was an active member of the communities in both Cheyenne, and Laramie Wyoming. He was state electrical inspector, a valued member of the staff at the University of Wyoming, and co-founder of the volunteer fire department for Vedavoo, Wyoming. He taught the national electrical code. He was a proud member of the IBEW and many other organizations associated with the electrical union. He was a very early inspiration for those in his family by building and bringing to life inventions by the great inventor Nikola Tesla.
Francis loved music, the outdoors and was an avid tropical and salt-water fish enthusiast.
Vigil for the Deceased will be Thursday, January 26, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel. Funeral Liturgy will be Friday at 2:00 p.m. at St. Mary’s Cathedral. Interment will follow at Olivet Cemetery.
