Frances Clare Wilson, 87, of Cheyenne, died peacefully on January 4, 2016 at home.
Frances was born in Sioux City, Iowa on July 23, 1928 to John and Frances McFadden. She lived in Sioux City until 1942 when the family moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming. Frances attended St. Mary’s High School and graduated in 1946.
On July 5, 1947, Frances married Gene Wilson at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
She worked for the UPRR Machinists Union for a couple of years and then went to work for Mountain Bell/US West until her retirement in 1990. Following retirement, she donated countless hours to the Telephone Pioneers.
Frances was a member of St. Mary’s Cathedral Parish and volunteered her time for many years.
She devoted her entire life to her family. Her words of wisdom to her children and grandchildren always included: Keep your sense of humor and check in.
She loved to escape with a good book, could be heard singing a song throughout the house, and enjoyed dancing with her favorite partner, Gene.
Frances’ positive attitude, faith filled outlook and sense of humor touched the lives of all those who knew her.
Survivors include her husband of 68 years, Gene; sisters: Kathleen Meyers, Marjorie Trefren and Cynthia (Hap) Petersen; five daughters: Connie (Rod) Janney; Lorraine Quarberg, Mary Cordova, Therese (Tim) Hupp, and Virginia (Brian) Harris; four sons: Timothy (Lori) Wilson; Dan (Karen) Wilson, Tom (Ronda) Wilson, and Bob Wilson; 19 grandchildren: Paul (Samantha), Jennifer, Dawn (Randy), Randy (Rachel), Michael (Niloufar), Erin (Dan), Mark, Laura (Brandon), Rachel (Toby), Dan (Renee), Sara (James), Cody (Tracy), Josh (Kristen), Jordan(Philicia), Crystal (Johnny), Joseph, Thomas, Erik and Ragen; 27 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews on both sides of the family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; baby brother, John Paul; sister, Judy Noone; and son-in-law, DeLoyd Quarberg.

Vigil services will be held on Friday, January 8 at 6:00pm at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel. Funeral liturgy will be held on Saturday, January 9 at 10:00am at St. Mary’s Cathedral with internment to follow at Olivet Cemetery. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Mary’s School or St. Mary’s Cathedral.
