Frances M. Van Ortwick, 100, of Cheyenne, died Sunday, October 4, 2015 at her home.
She was born November 2, 1914 in Grover, Colorado a daughter to Louis and Hattie Martin. The family came to Cheyenne when Frances was 4. Frances attended schools in Cheyenne and met and married her first husband Hugh Dever here. He passed away in 1952. She married Ivan L. Van Ortwick at the RLDS Church in Cheyenne. He passed away in 1998.
Frances volunteered for many different things while in Cheyenne including doing the shopping for residents at Mountain Towers Nursing Home. She was a member of the Community of Christ Church. She enjoyed working in her yard, hunting and was a team bowler for many years.
Survivors include five grandchildren, Gaynell (Wayne) Spencer of Cheyenne; Steven (Sheila) Melton of Casper; Kathy (Kevin) White of Cheyenne; Brent Dever of Denver; and Loreasa Nary of Las Vegas, NV; eight great grandchildren; Jason Spencer of Cheyenne; Jackie Parker of Cheyenne; Stacie Thillet of Cheyenne; Andrew White of Fort Collins, CO; Valan Pearse of Casper Brett Nary of Las Vegas; Travis Raisley of Gillette; and Justin Nary of Iowa; eight great great grandchildren; Dillon, Mercedes; Tenae; Ariya; Alex; Ryatt; Naliyah and Kaelynne.
She was preceded in death by two husbands; parents; a son, Gary Brent Dever; a daughter, Anita Kay Melton; granddaughter, Debbie Raisley; three brothers, Adolph, Rudolph and E.V. Martin; and three sisters, Lodusta, Capitola and Zelpha.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel. Interment will follow at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Thursday and Friday at the funeral home.
