Frances Michaud passed away peacefully with family at her side on the morning of February 17th, 2020.
On February 4, 1917, Frances was born on a ranch near Syracuse, Kansas to Harry and Ruth Leifheit. The family moved to Colorado where her father was a successful businessman. She married Bill Michaud in 1938 and they moved to Laramie, Wyoming, where Bill worked for the Union Pacific Railroad and Frances lovingly raised their three children – Beverly, Glenda and Gordon. Frances and Bill were married for 70 years until Bill’s passing in 2008.
Frances and Bill enjoyed traveling and visited all 50 United States. She was a proud parishioner of St. Lawrence Parish in Laramie, St. Mary’s Cathedral in Cheyenne and Holy Rosary Parish in Lander. Frances was an amazing chef, always cheered for Wyoming Cowboys (Go Pokes!), relished her time at the family mountain home near Laramie and treasured her time with family and friends.
Frances adored her caregivers at Pointe Frontier in Cheyenne and Westward Heights in Lander, and her family is grateful to all of them for their dedication and compassion.
Frances was preceded in death by her husband Bill, daughter Glenda and son-in-law Bill Schmidt (Laramie). She is survived by a daughter, Beverly Kennedy and her husband Bill (Medford, Oregon); son Gordon Michaud and wife Phyllis (Cheyenne, Wyoming); 5 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She loved them all.
Graveside services will be Friday, February 28, 2020 at 11:15 a.m. in Cheyenne at Olivet Cemetery with a Funeral Liturgy to follow at St. Mary’s Cathedral at 12:00 p.m. A reception will immediately follow services in Hartman Hall.
