Felipe Joseph Helms, beloved son of Lori and Jose Garcia passed away in Gillette, WY on December 15th, 2018 just two days before his 36th birthday. Felipe will be forever remembered by his many friends and family and especially his children, who were his world and reason to never give up.
Felipe was born on December 17, 1982 in Cheyenne, WY. He was the oldest of six children. He took his role of “big brother” very seriously, often getting his siblings into mischief but always ready to lift them up with his good humor and his kind heart. He could always bring a smile to his mother’s face by calling himself “leaps and bounds,” one of her favorite memories of him. In Felipe’s life, family was his biggest motivator and, despite hardships and setbacks, they were always his reason to strive for a better life. Felipe was the father of five beautiful children and he was constantly working to create a better life for them. In 2014 he graduated the Dad’s Making a Difference program where he earned his CDL license and began his career driving truck.
Felipe brought life to any room he entered and could brighten even the darkest of moments with his signature “happy dance.” He loved loud music, the more intense the base, the better. He loved cooking, fashion and owned more shoes than any one man should! He was never afraid to try new things, whether it was a new dish to cook or becoming a “work in progress” mechanic.
Felipe leaves behind his parents, Lori and Jose Garcia, his siblings Kraig (Ellen) Garcia, Daniel (Teresa) Garcia, Luke Garcia, Victoria Garcia and Salamon Garcia. He also leaves behind his children, Angel Helms (14), Stevie Nicole (14), Michael Gonzalez (11), Joseph Gonzalez (9) and Kaiden Helms (8). He leaves his nieces, nephews and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins who will miss him terribly. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a GoFundMe account in Felipe’s name to assist with the funeral expenses.
Services will be Thursday, December 27, 2018 at St. Paul's Catholic Church with burial to follow in the Pine Bluffs Cemetery.
