Evangeline Dicho Barcenas Bratton, 70, of Cheyenne passed away Feb. 14th at Davis Hospice Center, ending a long and determined fight with pancreatic cancer.
She was born September 24, 1948 in Honolulu, HI.
In 1967, she moved to San Francisco and about that same time Dan moved from Phoenix to San Francisco where they met and married in 1969. They were married 49 years.
She and Dan moved their family to Cheyenne in 1977. Initially, she did volunteer work with the Cheyenne Solar Green House, and helped cancer patients with rides to their appointments. After a time she worked as a secretary for the Laramie County Health Planning Committee.
She retired in 2014, as office manager with the Wyoming Arts Council.
As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she held various callings. Her greatest joy came in serving as a visiting teacher and in genealogy research, pursuing her Filipino heritage.
She loved sharing the Hawaiian culture, particularly in music and dance.
Evangeline is survived by her husband, Daniel Bratton; children, Tiffany (Scotty) Scott and their three children, and Jacob Bratton; mother, Paciana “Ann” Barcenas; siblings, Geraldine “Danni” Digmon, Norine Barcenas, Suzanne Bourque and Alan Barcenas.
Evangeline was preceded in death by her father, Trinidad “Eddie” Sagolili Barcenas and siblings, Erlinda “Linda” Tkachenko, Leticia Barcenas, Arnold Barcenas, Edwin “Larry” Barcenas and Orlando Barcenas.
Services will be 10:30 a.m., Friday at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 309 Western Hills Blvd.
Interment will follow at Beth El cemetery.
