Ethel Ann Champion

April 3, 1930 — May 24, 2015

Ethel “Ann” Champion of Cheyenne passed away on May 24, at 85.
Ann was born to Mary Evelyn and James Larkin Porter on April 3, 1930. She was one of 10 children. In High School she enjoyed sports and was selected female athlete of the year at her school. Later she loved traveling, golf, and bowling.
Ann was born in Dallas Texas, and spent time back and forth between Texas and California at various times. She eventually settled in Simi Valley California. She worked at Teledyne for 21 years and retired in 1986. There she met her husband Charles and had a wonderful life with him until he passed away in 2003. She was an active member of the Elks Lodge.
In 2004 Ann moved to Cheyenne WY. There she lived at Sierra Hills Assisted Living facility and was a fixture there until her death. The staff affectionately called her “Little Annie”. She was one of the longest residing residents at the facility. She enjoyed living at Sierra Hills, even though she never got used to the weather difference between California and Wyoming. She loved the weekly football pools and playing bingo.
Ann was preceded in death by her husband Charles and son Mike. She is survived by her sons Jimmy Spurgeon (Deb), Larry Spurgeon (Rhonda), Robert Spurgeon, and stepson Michael Champion. Ann has 5 grandchildren (Tonya, Allen, Christina, Larry, Calvin) and 6 great-grandchildren (Cassi, Christopher, Alyssa, Michael, Addison, Michael).
Services will be held 11am on 6/4/15, at Glen Haven Memorial Park in Sylmar California (818) 899-5211. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your local Hospice facility.
