Esther Rexius

September 6, 1922 — October 30, 2022

Esther Asmus Rexius, 100, of Cheyenne, passed at Davis Hospice surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, October 30, 2022. She was born September 6, 1922 in Fort Collins, Colorado to David Asmus and Marie Katherine Asmus (Stoll). She married Adam Rexius on November 26, 1941. They were married 53 years until his death in 1995.
Esther is survived by her son, John Rexius (Melissa), son-in- law Harvey Heimbuch, daughter-in-law Yvonne Rexius, all of Cheyenne, son Billie Bertrand of Douglas, eight grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren.
Esther was preceded in death by her parents, ten brothers and sisters, husband Adam, daughter Patricia Heimbuch, and son Thomas Rexius.
Esther spent a majority of her life helping Adam raise crops and cattle in Orin Junction, Wyoming. She also spent time cooking for the Douglas schools as well as the hospital. Later in life, Esther spent her time helping children as a part of the Cheyenne Elementary School foster grandparent program. She very much enjoyed working with the kids and always looked for ways to give back to her community. The family would like to express their appreciation for all the folks that participated in and worked at the Pace Program before it closed. She made many friends there, and the level of care received was very special. Also, a well deserved thank you to the staff at Davis Hospice for their loving care and support in our time of need. Services will be held Friday, November 4, 2022, at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel. There is a viewing at 1:00 followed by the service at 2:00.
