Estelle Borgmeyer, 94, of Cheyenne, died Saturday, December 15, 2018 at her home.
She was born August 27, 1924 in Chicago, Illinois to Gust and Gladys Papageorge. Following Graduation from Foreman High School in 1942, she served in the U.S. Army Air Corp as a women’s aircraft instrument technician in WWII, stationed in Miami, Florida. After her discharge she went to work for Douglas Aircraft as an installer of wing fire seals.
On December 29, 1945, she married Paul D. Borgmeyer who served in the U.S. Navy from 1945 to 1951. Estelle owned the Cheerful Gift Box, a gift and toy store in Chicago. As her husband’s position advanced with Met Life Insurance Company they were on the move from Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, New York, Colorado and landed in Wyoming in 1965.
They had three daughters, Sharon Ann, Linda Sue, and Patricia Kay.
Estelle was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. She enjoyed all crafts, reading, collecting cookbooks, teddy bears and porcelain dolls. Estelle spent many years volunteering at De Paul Hospital where she was a De Paul Guild Board Member. She also started the rolling gift cart and case in the lobby. Estelle also spent 12 years with Avon. She was also a member of Holy Trinity Council of Catholic Women, seed and weed garden club, useful pieces quilting club, the bag ladies craft club, League bowling and she worked as a nutritionist for a Laramie county program.
Survivors include her daughter, Patricia Kay Sheffield; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren 1 great great-grandchild; and a niece Judith (Ed) Oles.
She was preceded in death by her husband Paul; her parents; sister; daughters, Sharon Ann Sutter and Linda Sue McKinnon; grandsons, Eric Brian Sutter, 14 month old David McKinnon (a 1979 Cheyenne Tornado Victim); and a newborn baby.
Vigil for the deceased will be Thursday, at 7:00 pm at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel. Funeral Liturgy will be Friday at 10:00 am at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens.
