Essie Ivan Ramsey, of Wheatland, WY passed away on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at the VA Medical Center in Cheyenne, WY.
Essie was born on September 19, 1949, in Wheatland, WY to Loren and Helen Ramsey. Essie grew up on the Ramsey Ranch with his brother, father, and step-mother, Violet Ramsey. He attended school in Wheatland and later received his GED. Essie worked in the construction trade for many years and was a skilled carpenter and concrete finisher. He was an Army Veteran and was a member of the Wyoming Army National Guard.
Essie married Mary Barnes on October 21, 1970 in Denver, CO.
Essie will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He will be deeply missed by his family and all that knew him.
Essie loved the outdoors, shooting his rifles, hunting and fishing, going for drives with Mary, being at home in his yard and with his animals, and most of all being with his family.
Essie was preceded in death by his parents, Loren and Helen Ramsey; step-mother, Violet Ramsey; wife, Mary Ramsey; grandson, Jaden Ramsey; brother, Loyd Ramsey; and sister, Sandy Ramsey.
Essie is survived by his brother Lyle (Sue) Ramsey; sons, Kevin Ramsey and KC (Amanda) Ramsey; grandchildren, Dylan (Nathan) Burkman, Thomas Ramsey, Keagen Ramsey, Jlynn Ramsey, Alex Ramsey, Lucas Medina, and Josiah Medina; great-grandchild, Ariana Burkman; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at the Wheatland VFW Post 3558 on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at 2:30 p.m. with Lyle Ramsey officiating.
