Ernie “GEM” Montoya
10/07/1947-10/04/2023
Gilbert E. Montoya, age 75, of Rawlins, Wyoming, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2023. He was
surrounded by his loved ones. He laughed and joked with all his healthcare workers who aided him as he
bravely fought cancer. He was the best paent around. He was set in his own ways. If he liked or didn’t
like something, you knew about it. He was a friend to many. He was a gied musician who loved to play
the guitar and learned it at a very young age. He grew up listening to his father and uncles as they
entertained generaons of family and friends. In his early life, he played with his brothers in a band of
second-generaon entertainers. They were very popular and handsome. He married the love of his life,
June, in 1967. He is survived by his sisters: Rose, Lori (Andrew), Vee, Patsy, and Eva (John). His loving
children: Diane, Darlene (Glen), Ernesna (Damion), Ernie, Irene, Tanzianna (Dre), Sierra, and Sanago.
Grandchildren: Andrew, Mckayla, Jeremia, Katrina, Leanna Lee, Dakota, Demarco, Angeles, Mathew,
Delaney, Gianni, Halo, Luxarie, Ciomi and Asher and eleven great-grandchildren. He was like a father to many of his grandchildren. Tracy Marnez and Isabel Pacheco were loving companions. Ernie was preceded in death
by his parents, Ralph and Crusita (Mary), and son Brian. Brothers: Roger, Rudy, Floyd, Charlie (Sylvia),
Arthur (Arlene). Sisters: Emma and Nancy.
As per Ernie’s request, no services will be held.
