Ernest Tony Cummins, 94 of Cheyenne, Wyoming died on December 5, 2014 at Veterans Hospital CLC unit surrounded by family and staff that loved him. He was born December 6, 1919 to William B. and Gladys Cummins. Ernest joined the Army in 1941 and served until July 16, 1945, in which he received a Silver Service Star, two bronze service stars, a good conduct metal and an American defense service ribbon. He spent 2 years, 10 months, and 8 days in foreign service, serving in Algeria, France, Morocco, Tunisia, Sicily, Naples, Foggia Italy, Rome, and Arno North Apencicos Po Valley in North Africa. Ernest was married to Ruby (Brown) Cummins for 52 years after returning from WW II. He picked cotton in the early years and was proud to say he could pick more cotton than any other worker. Ernest also worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for 43 years as a telegrapher operator and messenger driver.
Survivors include his five children; David Cummins (Patricia), Dorothy Greenwood, Katherine Yurgilevich (Alec) Martha Ritter (Richard), Timothy Cummins (Barbara); nine grandchildren, Holly, Carol, Thomas, Tony, James, Stephen, John, Michael, Christina; 11 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and all 5 siblings; Andrew, Albert, Pearl, Irene, and Rex.
Visitation will be Tuesday and Wednesday from 9 am to 8pm at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Funeral Home. Funeral services will be on Thursday December 11 at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel at 2pm. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery with military honors. A reception will take place at 6106 Happy Jack Rd for family and friends.
