Erik passed away suddenly on January 26, 2022 in Cheyenne, Wyoming, where he enjoyed the last year of his life. He was born on October 6, 1980 and was only 41 years young.
He is survived by his mother, Judy Venable; father, Michael Thuesen; sister, Trisha Thuesen; niece, Alyssa Schmidt and her husband Ryan Schmidt. Other loving family members include future Step Father, William Urban; aunt, Pamela; cousins, Stephanie and Zachary; aunt, Debbie; cousin, Elisha; aunt, Ann; cousins, Jennifer and Stephanie; and significant other, Tish Jackson.
Erik was born in St. Louis, Missouri, grew up in the Denver, Colorado area, and lived in Boston a couple of years. After graduation from Heritage High School in Littleton, Colorado, Erik attended DADC where he graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2004 and earned an Associate of Applied Science degree, plus numerous other honors. He immediately pursued an electrical engineering degree at Metro State College in Denver.
Erik worked in a number of fields including electrical construction, oil and gas rigging control systems, and the automotive industry. His passions were the Colorado Avalanche hockey team, ice skating, and several genres of music. His beloved family and friends will miss his quick wit, competitive nature, beautiful smile, and watching Avs games with him.
On February 5, a Celebration of Erik’s Life will be held for family and close friends, which will include the spreading of his ashes. Contributions may be made in Erik’s honor to the American Heart Association, Colorado Epilepsy Foundation, or Big Brothers Big Sisters of America.
