Elvira (Horst) Casner, 90, had her final request in this earthly life fulfilled when she went into the loving arms of her Lord on July 7, 2017. Elvira was surrounded by her loving family and her Pastor as her final breath was taken.
Elvira was born December 12, 1926 on a farm outside Gurley, Nebraska moving to Denver, Colorado in 1945. She attended Business College in Denver and then moved to Cheyenne in 1946 where she worked for the State of Wyoming, Worker’s Compensation, from 1946 until 1949. While working for the State of Wyoming, she was set up on a blind date with Ernest (Ernie) Casner, Jr. They later married in 1948. Elvira and Ernie celebrated almost 63 years together and raised four sons.
Elvira was a charter member of Our Savior Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School, and Vacation Bible School for many years and was involved with many of the church groups until she was unable to attend in later years.
Elvira is survived by a brother, Lee Horst (Leora); son, Kerry (Nancy); grandson, Michael (Caitlin) and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Martha (Thieman) Horst; three brothers, Clarence, Norbert, and Melvin; husband, Ernest Casner, Jr., and three sons David, Craig, and Douglas.
Services will be 2:00 PM, Tuesday at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 5101 Dell Range Blvd. Memorials to Our Savior Lutheran Church.
