Elsie I. Burkhard, 91, of Cheyenne died peacefully surrounded with loved ones in her home on Thursday, October 15, 2015.
Elsie Schmidt was born April 17, 1924 in Ft. Collins CO.
Elsie is survived by four children, Pat (Mike) Herman, Dian (Bob) Tamura, Jay (Patty) Burkhard and Tracy (Brian) Jacques;
eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded by her husband Kenneth L. Burkhard of 45 years.
Elsie was the youngest of Five Sisters and Five Brothers.
Her Parents Frederick and Mary Schmidt (Lockman) came from Dittel (Aleshniki) Russia where they arrived in Colorado.
They became Farmers raising Sugar Beets and 11 children.
No matter who you were Elsie was outgoing and loved taking the time to talk with whoever she would meet or on the phone.
She had a great love for her Family, Friends, Animals and Home. Visitors were always greeted with a smile,
nice cold drink and or something she may have cooked or baked.
You always felt welcomed, appreciated. and leaving with something in hand.
Besides being a Farmers daughter many job opportunities arose in her life starting at a young age.
She Always was willing to start new adventures including being a waitress at her Brothers Hauf Brau in Ft. Collins
selling Cosmetics, Vitamins, or Massagers and many others.
Some of her favorites were making Kraut Burgers, German Chocolate Cake and Homemade Chicken Noodle Soup.
Elsie had a love for Country music and adored listening to her husband Ken who played the Steel Guitar.
The Lawrence Welk Show would always be the highlight of her weekend.
A Family Service will be held to Celebrate her life in CA.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel.
