Elizabeth R. “Liz” Martinez, 69, of Cheyenne, died Sunday, August 10, 2014 after a courageous 10 year battle with cancer in which she never complained.
Liz was born on October 30, 1944 in Cleveland, New Mexico and had lived here since 1948.
She was an administrative assistant at Brewster-Miller and Associates for over 30 years and had also worked at Dillards.
Liz graduated from Cheyenne Central High School in 1963. She loved Elvis Presley, gardening, bowling, shopping, her pets, and taking care of her family. She was a big Wyoming Cowboys fan.
Liz is survived by her husband, Robert Martinez, whom she married nearly fifty years ago; two sons, Michael and Mark Martinez (Sunny); a daughter, Michelle Schildgen; her siblings, Al Paiz (Suzy), Sylvania Rodriguez (Steve), Flavio Paiz (Connie), Gloria Paiz; Richard Paiz (Irene), Sam Paiz (Bea), Joseph Paiz (Sylvia), Maryann Tack (Tye), and Debbie Paiz; three grandchildren, Destiny, Anthony, and Jazz Martinez; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfonso and Bersabe (Lujan) Paiz.
Vigil for the Deceased will be Wednesday, 7:00 p.m., at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel.
Funeral Liturgy will be Thursday, 10:30 a.m., at St. Mary’s Cathedral with Father August Koeune as the celebrant.
