Elizabeth Ann (Hensen) Freimuth was born May 6, 1953 in Spokane, Washington to Wilbur and Stella Hensen. She passed away suddenly but peacefully at home on November 18, 2020.
Liz spent most of her life in Wyoming, after her father’s three-year deployment in Germany following her father’s retirement from the U.S. Air Force in Cheyenne. She graduated from Central High School in 1971. She met the love of her life, Fred Freimuth, on a blind date in 1972, and they were married on March 16, 1974. They welcomed a daughter, Kimberly, in 1980, and a son, Bradley, in 1988. Liz loved being a stay-at-home mother until her youngest was a teenager, when she returned to full-time work at the Wyoming Governor’s residence. She retired in 2018 after thirteen years as a housekeeper and assistant to the event organizer.
Liz enjoyed sewing, quilting, knitting, gardening, along with decorating and remodeling the 1920s-era home she shared with her family. In her later years, she stayed active by swimming and attending the Silver Sneakers class at Gold’s Gym. Liz also loved the Mountain West, and she often went for scenic drives to the Snowy Range, the Rocky Mountains in Estes Park, and Yellowstone National Park.
Liz was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband and children; her brother Edward Hensen; her brother-in-law Kenneth (Laura) Freimuth; and her sister-in-law Kathy (Larry) James, all of Cheyenne.
No services will be held at present. A celebration of life is planned for spring 2021. In lieu of flowers, donations in Liz’s name can be made to the “Ladies’ Lunch Fund” at Laramie County Community College, a fund to help feed students in need.
