Elizabeth “Betty” Mercado, 92, of Cheyenne, died on Thursday, November 20, 2014 at the Davis Hospice Center.
She was born on October 7, 1922 in Chugwater, Wyoming and had lived here since 1939.
Betty was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabelle, and several bowling leagues. She worked at Kinkade’s, Mickey’s, Cinderella’s, and managed the beauty shop at Mt. Towers Healthcare for 25 years. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, cooking, and had a million dollar fudge recipe.
She is survived by four daughters, Phyllis Valdez of Northglenn, Colorado, Sherry Lopez (David) and Sandra Sanchez (Gilbert), both of Cheyenne, and Valerie Soto (Randy) of Ft. Collins, Colorado; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 9 great-great-grandchildren.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Phillip Mercado on February 12, 2001; her parents, France and Faye (Beech) Mathiot; two brothers, Virgil and Lamar; two sisters, Evelyn and Helen; two grandsons; and one granddaughter.
Vigil for the Deceased will be Sunday, 3:00 p.m., at Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
Funeral Liturgy will be Monday, 10:00 a.m., at Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
Pallbearers are J.R. Lovato, David Lopez, II, Phillip Lopez, Domonick Lopez, Jason Sanchez, Nash Vigil, and Mike James.
Honorary pallbearers are David Lopez, Gilbert Sanchez, Randy Soto, Matthew Soto, Josh Olbekson, and Miguel Gallardo.
Interment will be in Olivet Cemetery.
