Elaine A. Stockton

May 31, 1940 — February 17, 2018

Elaine A. Stockton, 77, of Cheyenne, died peacefully on February 17, 2018 at the Davis Hospice Center after her courageous battle with cancer.
She was born on May 31, 1940 in Springfield, Massachusetts. As a child she was active in the Roman Catholic Church. As a teen she won several awards for her beautiful ice skating and her dancing. At 15, she went on a date with her best friend and best friend’s boyfriend, who ironically became her future husband. She married Joseph D. Stockton, Sr. on May 25, 1957, who was an active Air Force member. She was a devoted military wife and loving mother of four children. She supported her husband through all he did. He was an active member of American Legion Post 6 and was a Post 6 Commander, while she was a supportive auxiliary member. She worked for Mountain Bell for over 20 years until she retired after her loving husband passed in 1994. She loved her family life and her alone time. She was very talented and loved to needle point, cross stitch, Sudukos, and animals. She was well known for her delicious meals that she would make as the Chef for her son-in-law’s race car team. She was always there for her family.
She is survived by her son, Joseph (Danny) D. Stockton, Jr.; daughters, Chica Thomas and Lynette Stockton, both of Cheyenne; sister, Clair Rainville; brothers, William (Billy) Arbour and Russell Arbour; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph D. Stockton, Sr.; daughter, Suzette E. Coker; parents, Stella and Alfred Rainville; brother, Richard Arbour; and sister, Estelilta Hurley.
Donations can be made to the Cheyenne Animal Shelter.
