Edna Elaine Meena, nee Furtado, 84, passed away at Davis Hospice Center on January 19th in Cheyenne. She was born to Joseph and Arinda Furtado August 26th, 1932 in Falmouth, Massachusetts. Edna attended LCCC, and worked as a teacher’s aide for Central High School’s special education department. Edna gave back to the community she loved by volunteering as a Cub Scout den mother, Sunday School teacher at Holy Family Catholic parish on Base, the Wyoming State Museum, Red Hat Society, and in the Lioness women’s group to name a few. She loved children, pets, and gardening, and served as a role model to many of Cheyenne’s youth. Survivors include her four sons; Jay, Jeff, Joel, and Jaymes, and her daughter; Laurie Meena, and their spouses and children. Edna was preceded in death by her beloved husband John Meena, her dear son Jack Meena, and her parents. A Rosary service will be held at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel on Thursday February 9th at 6PM with a Catholic Mass at 1PM Friday February 10th at Saint Mary’s Cathedral. Internment of her ashes on FE Warren AFB, joining her husband John, will be conducted by the family at a later date.
