Edalia “Mary” Griego, age 82, of Cheyenne passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 23rd, at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center after a lengthy illness. Born February 25, 1932, in Guadalupita, New Mexico, she was the daughter of the late Anastacio Martinez and Carmelita (Salazar) Martinez. She was united in marriage to Jose A. Griego on November 30, 1946 in Las Vegas, New Mexico. He preceded her in death on July 14, 2005. They were married for 59 blessed years.
Mary worked for nearly thirty years in housekeeping for DePaul Hospital. She was also a devout member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church for over forty years. She enjoyed spending time with her family, and visits always brought a smile to her face. You would never see her without her rosary and would pray several times both night and day.
She is survived by her sister Trudy (Pablo) Hernandez, (Leroy, Philip, Margarita, Amy, Angela and Pablo.) She is also survived by her four children, spouses and significant others: Rita Pacheco (Dick Martinez), Delores (Adolfo) Munoz, Daniel (Linda) Griego, and Edward (Lorna) Griego. Her 10 grandchildren: Irene (Rita), Michelle and Melissa (Delores), Dominic, Damian, Antoinette, Minnie, Edalia (Daniel), Monica and Keith (Edward). Her 15 great-grandchildren: Logan, Cheyanne (Irene and Jason Lee), Ramzee and Crimson (Michelle), Rozley (Melissa), Izraiel (Damian), Ladonna, Daniel, Andrew, Elias (Antoinette), Xavier, Izaeyh, Destyni, Justyce (Minnie), Gracie (Edalia). She is additionally survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by infant brother, Anastacio Jr., and grandson James Pacheco.
A Rosary will be held on Tuesday, July 29th at 6:00 pm at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel. Funeral Liturgy will be at 10:00 am, Wednesday, July 30th at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Interment to follow at Olivet Cemetery.
