Earl “Scotty” MacKenzie, 89, passed away May 24, 2014 in Cheyenne.
He was born February 10, 1925 in New Haven, Connecticut to Earl and Mary (Petrillo) MacKenzie. He moved to Cheyenne in 1982. He worked as an Inspector/Coordinator at the VA for many years. A true patriot, he dedicated his life to veterans. He was a World War II veteran, serving honorably in the United States Army. He received the Purple Heart award, among many other awards and recognitions. He was very proud of his military service. He started two different AMVET posts, served as the western coordinator for Cell Phones for Soldiers. He enjoyed fishing and hunting in his spare time. His favorite sports teams were the Boston Red Sox and the Denver Broncos.
He is survived by his sons Earl “Doug”) MacKenzie (Linda) and Mark Mackenzie (Lori); daughter Tamsen Tineri (George); and grandchildren Hillary, Douglas, George, Bruce, Shayna, and Crystal.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son Bruce MacKenzie; and sister Mary Ellen McDermott.
Services will occur Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel. Interment will occur at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery.
