E.L. “Doc” Swinton, 74, of Cheyenne went to be with his Savior, October 17, 2015 after a long courageous battle of heart and lung disease.
He was born June 5, 1941 in Anthony, Kansas, the son of Walter Lee Swinton and Wonda Jurlean Catlin.
Doc was a Vietnam veteran and served in the Navy as a hospital corpsman from 1959 to 1979.
Doc married his childhood sweetheart, Shirley Willard in 1961.
He was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason, a member of the Disabled American Veterans and enjoyed woodworking. While living in Hawaii, he was a medical trainer for the local baseball and football teams.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years; his two sons, Mike Swinton and wife Lorna of Florida and Mark Swinton and Jacque of Florida; sister, Jurlean Longnecker of Oklahoma; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two on the way.
Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday at the Rugged Cross Chapel in Cheyenne Memorial Gardens with Pastor John E. Page officiating.
Casket bearers will be Michael Swinton, Michael Swinton, Jr., Mark Swinton, Mark Swinton, Jr., and Rick White.
Honorary casket bearers will be Zachary Page, Ethan Wilkins and Caleb Wilkins.
