Our beloved brother, Doug Slames, went to be with the Lord, January 1, 2019. He was born on April 24, 1952 in Cheyenne and was a lifelong resident of Wyoming. He attended Eastridge Elementary, Carey Junior High and graduated from East High School in 1970. Doug attended the University of Wyoming and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology. After college he was employed by the Wyoming Department of Game and Fish where he was a supervisor at several fish hatcheries across the State. He retired in 2005. During his spare time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing and taking his 1972 Chevrolet PU to car shows where he won several awards. Doug loved Frontier Days and time with his family. He was proficient at construction projects and even built his own home in Cheyenne where he lived until he passed away. An avid football fan, watching the Broncos and the Wyoming Cowboys was a favorite pastime.
Doug is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Slames and Betty Meehan-Morse. He is survived by his siblings, Peggy (Steve) Brinson, J’ana Meehan and Jem (Brenda) Meehan and his nieces.
Celebration of life will be 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Wednesday, at the Kiwanis Community House in Lions Park.
Memorials may be sent to the American Heart Association.
