Dorothy W. Warne

March 2, 1930 — August 29, 2019

Dorothy W. Warne, 89, of Cheyenne, died August 29, 2019, at Aspen Wind Assisted Living Facility after a long illness.

Dorothy, who was known as Dot, was born March 2, 1930, in San Leandro, CA to Joseph M. and Adeline A. (Augustine) Enos.

She met and married Stan Warne of Sheridan on March 5, 1950, while he was serving in the Navy at Alameda Naval Air Station in California. After Stan was discharged, he talked her into moving to Wyoming where they made Sheridan their home. They welcomed son Rod and later daughter Terrie into their family. Stan was hired by the Wyoming Highway Patrol and they began a new adventure moving to Rock Springs for his first duty assignment. Dot was not impressed by the move as the Wyoming Highway Department loaded their belongings into a state owned dump truck and transported the belongings to their new home. They were married 53 years when she lost Stan due to a brain tumor.

Moving throughout Wyoming would continue as they were transferred to Casper, Powell, Newcastle, back to Casper, then Cody and finally Cheyenne. Many new life long friends were made across the state. Dot worked various jobs including dispatching at the Powell Police Department, and even working the sugar beet fields to earn extra money for the family. She also worked in sales at different stores across the state.

About every other year the family would return to San Leandro to visit relatives. Her family would also travel out to the wilds of the rural west and one year it snowed in Yellowstone during the summer. Her father just knew he might be snowed in so they returned home early.

Stan was very active in the Grounds Committee at Frontier Days and relatives loved visiting here where Stan would take them out to see things from behind the chutes. A highlight of Frontier Days was when Dot would make chicken and noodles along with a chocolate sheet cake and take it out for committee members to enjoy. She continued to do so even after Stan passed away.

Dot loved all of her family and especially enjoyed when family and friends stopped by for visits. She had wonderful neighbors who helped her in many ways after Stan’s passing.

Survivors include her son Rod (Glenda) of Gillette, daughter Terrie Green (Vance) of Cheyenne; grandchildren Ryan Warne (Sarah), Tasha Coe (Thomas), Christie Torres (Tim) and Joey Kopriva; great-grandchildren Shelby, Tavia, Jackson, Aalyus, Tru, Amelia and Tyraa; great great-granddaughter Maggie; brother Ray Enos and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dot was preceded in death by her husband, parents and three brothers.

Visitation will be Wednesday, 9:00 a.m., to 1:00 p.m., at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 4, at Wiederspahn Radomsky Chapel of Chimes with burial at Beth El Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to be made in her name to the Alzheimer Association Cheyenne Chapter.

The family expresses their heartfelt thanks to staff at Aspen Wind Assisted Living Facility; Davis Hospice Center and to Dr. Shannon Cook, FNP, DNP for her wonderful care.
