Doris Irene Jackson, 86, of Cheyenne passed away Nov. 20 at Life Care Center of Cheyenne.
Doris was born to Alvin and Neva Reynolds Nov. 9, 1929 on a farm near Claudell, Ks. Doris walked or rode her horse to the local two room school house and subsequently attended Kirwin High School, where she graduated in 1947. Doris married George Jackson, an airman, in 1949 with whom she had 5 children. For 2 decades, they led the itinerant life of a US Air Force family, finally settling in Cheyenne, Wy. in 1968. In the 1970’s Doris began working for the Laramie County School District. For the latter half of her 18 years at Johnson Junior High School she was the Principal’s Secretary and office manager. She retired in 1993. She filled her retirement with a variety of crafts and gardening—lifelong passions, and keeping up with her grandchildren.
Doris was preceded in death by her siblings, Wayne, Lawrence, and Roger Reynolds, and her sons Paul and Rex Jackson. She is survived by her children Larry Jackson (Kay), Donna Collis (Steve), and Kerry Jackson; her daughter-in-law Jennifer Jackson (Paul); 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She is also survived by long-time friend, Wanda Land, a sister in every sense of the word.
Life Commemoration services will be Tuesday, 10:00 a.m., at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel.
Friends who wish may contribute to Davis Hospice Center.
