Donald Lee Tibbets, 82, of Cheyenne, was called to Glory in Heaven on March 30, 2020 in Cheyenne. He was born November 21, 1937 to Virgil Ray Tibbets and Edna Eugenia Barnes Landreth in Sheridan, Wyoming.
Don was a graduate of Denver Tech where he learned electronics preparing for his eventual career in the Wyoming Air National Guard.
He married Ruth Ann Brown in Casper, Wyoming on June 5, 1958.
Don served 42 years in the Wyoming Air National Guard and retired as Chief Master Sargent. He was very involved in the lives of his children including 4H, Parent Teacher Organization. He was active in the Wyoming Sports Officials Association refereeing grade and junior high school football games. He taught Sunday School with his wife Ruth Ann at Highlands Presbyterian Church at the high school level. After his retirement he was a chaplain for Trucker’s Christian Chapel at the TA Truckstop. He was an active member of North Cheyenne Baptist Church.
Fly fishing, tying his own flies, drawing and painting horses and ceramic figures were his main hobbies. He loved to go camping and rooted on the Wyoming Cowboys and Denver Broncos.
He was preceded in death by his wife Ruth Ann, parents, stepmother Ruth Tibbets, brother Keith, and granddaughter, Krystal.
Don is survived by sons Don Jr., and Tim, and daughters Sandy (Hinners), and Joan, and 2 grandsons.Services will be at a later date.
Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, in Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel. Interment and honors to follow at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens.
