Donald "Don" E. Mcgee Jr.

May 16, 1957 — July 3, 2020

On Friday July 3rd, 2020, Donald “Don” E. McGee Jr., loving father, son, and brother, passed away suddenly at the age of 63.
Don was born on May 16, 1957 in Cheyenne, Wyoming, and then moved to North Platte, Nebraska where he grew up and was a member of the Presbertian Church. He received a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Wyoming in Laramie. Don was a Veteran of the United States Navy, Army and National Guard. Entering at the age of 16, he became the youngest member in Nebraska’s National Guard. Don was very determined and could accomplish anything he set his mind to. He achieved a lot for our nation's military arms, and gave seminars, conferences, and instructed all over the United States. Don's work resulted in many improvements in all facets of the security industry and was instrumental in changing military regulations updating the nation's security.
Don had a love for the mountains, streams and trees, and the history of his home states of Nebraska and Wyoming. He had a passion for gems and stones, Indian artifacts, railroads, and was a collector of knives and coins. He devoted much of his time and energy the past few years to his health and wellness and educating others on the importance of proper nutrition. “Let’s build wellness rather than treating disease.” –Dr. Bruce Daggy
Don will be forever remembered by his daughter Stephanie (Jacob) Ward, his stepchildren Rachael McKay and Ryan Higley, by his mother Charlsa McGee and sister Carlene Jones. He will also be remembered by his nephews Bobby (Christine) Jones and Brandon Jones, great niece and nephew Kelsie and Davis, his cousin Chad Dykeman, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Don was predeceased by his father, Donald E. McGee Sr.
We are heartbroken beyond measure, and while he was taken from us too soon, we are finding peace in knowing that he went as the best version of himself, and his love will constantly surround us.
Smooth sailing, Don.
