Donald R. Dean, Sr., 79, of Cheyenne, stepped into the arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at Davis Hospice Center.
Don was born in Denver, Colorado, where he was raised and received his education and technical training. Don was a veteran of the United States Air Force and Air National Guard. He moved to Cheyenne in 1964 where he began his career with the State of Wyoming that lasted for 29 years until his retirement in 1993.
God joined Don with his wife Shirley and they have lived as one for the last 55 years.
Don had led an active life having enjoyed skiing in his younger years as well as camping, fishing, trail biking and traveling. He loved woodworking, and playing the guitar and organ. Don was a long time Denver Broncos Fan and enjoyed the camaraderie of the R.O.M.E.O group (Retired Old Men Eating Out). Don was very patriotic, and some of his parting words were “God Bless America”.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley, of Cheyenne; a son, Donald R. “Rob” Dean Jr. and his wife Connie of Mesa, Arizona; a daughter, Deanna Frescas and her husband Ed of Cheyenne, and four grandchildren, Travis, Jarred, Kyle and Genice Frescas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Mary, and siblings Dee, Ken, and Rich.
Cremation has taken place at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens under the direction of Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel. Private family services are being planned.
