Dolores Rae Glaser, 96, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at Davis Hospice Center.
She was adopted by Chester and Marcia Taylor when she was 3 hours old. Her parents happily returned with her to Milliken, Colorado to meet her new sisters; Dorothy (1 year) and Doris (2 months). Her sister Donna arrived 3 years later. Tragically, at the age of 4, she lost her mother in a car accident. Her father later remarried, and together they welcomed two more siblings, Shirley and Chester. Dolores remained in Milliken where she attended school until 8th grade, where she then entered the workforce to help support her family. Although the start of her life was met with hardship, Dolores took it in stride and used her experiences to shape her loving, kind character. At the age of 18, Dolores met the love of her life, Edwin Glaser, in Loveland, Colorado; they wed in 1946 after a whirlwind 6-week courtship. She often described this as “when her life began”. They settled in Cheyenne, welcoming children Eddie Glaser, Sharon Cicarelli, Ron Glaser, David Glaser, and Carolyn GrandPre (Bill).
Dolores spent many years as a doting mother and caregiver to her own children as well as those of her friends and neighbors. Her jobs included waitressing at “Peterson’s Café” and “The Coffee Cup” as well as cafeteria work for LCSD1.
She had many hobbies including loving on her furry companion, Lexi, quilting, gardening, knitting, cooking, and her favorite of all being fishing. Some of Dolores’ most joyous moments were out fishing with her husband. She also enjoyed spending time as an active member of the Archer Friendly Club doing civic projects for the Cheyenne community.
From her 5 loving children came 12 grandchildren: Kimberly Hatch (Ryan), Brandy Glaser, Jessica Sayers (John), Misty Hall (Ryan), Jed Cicarelli (Jaela), Sara Saunders (Dan), Billy GrandPre, Jonny Cicarelli (Kelly), Lindsey Belmonte (Brandon), Gina Maez-Howland (Logan), Emily Myers (Kyle), and Heather Glaser. From her grandchildren came 21 great-grandchildren. All of which reside within 100 miles of her. “Nana” Dolores doted on her family whom she kept well-fed and showered in love. What a joy it was to see her eyes light up every time they walked in the room. In 96 years of life, her greatest pride and accomplishment was her family who visited often and loved her dearly. Our lives will forever be touched by our precious Mom and Nana.
In 2015, at 87 years of age, she discovered her biological father and acquired 2 “new” surviving sisters, Claudia Blaser and Shirley Lange. Her connection to her sisters was undeniable and she cherished every moment and phone call they shared. If only we could’ve found them sooner.
Dolores is survived by sister in laws, Eleanor Glaser and Jan Glaser; as well as sisters, Claudia and Shirley. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin; son, Ron; granddaughter, Brandy, and numerous brothers and sisters.
Funeral will be held at Weiderspahn-Radomsky on Friday, March 1st at 2:00 pm. Reception to follow after gravesite interment. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Black Dog Animal Rescue in memory of Dolores.
