Dixie Lee (Roth) Kiester, 77, passed away Sunday, June 12, 2016 in Cheyenne, WY.
Dixie was born December 25, 1938 in Alliance, Nebraska, daughter of Charles C. & Vealya M. (Timmins) Roth. She grew up 18 miles southwest of Hemingford, NE.
Dixie went to school in a 1 room school house until high school and then graduated from Alliance High in 1956.
On June, 17 1956 she was united in marriage to Robert Earl Kiester at the Methodist Church in Hemingford. They raised their family one-mile north of town. After selling the farm, they retired to Sebring, Florida. Dixie also resided at The Residency in Scottsbluff, NE and Primrose in Cheyenne, WY.
Dixie was a member of Eastern Star and P.E.O. While living in Hemingford, she was an EMT, firefighter, Box Butte Co. Fair Queen Contest Chair for many years, FUMC youth-group leader and district conference youth-group leader, and a past president and member of FUMC women’s group.
Survivors include her son, Kirt (Laura) Kiester, grandchildren Andrea, Alex, Lilly of Tampa, FL; daughter, Gay (Craig) Wilson, grandchildren Sarah (Mike) Horen, great-granddaughter Sydney Lynn; identical twin grandsons, Phillip Honstein and Mark Honstein, great-grandson Bryson, all of Cheyenne, WY; daughter-in-law Lori Kiester, grandchildren Kasandra and Kolton of North Branch, MN; brother, Darrell (Sharon) Roth of Cocoa Beach, Florida.
Preceding her in death were her parents Chuck and Vealya Roth; son Kelly Kiester, her loving husband and partner in life, Robert Kiester, and identical twin sister, Nancy Knight.
Dixie was a loving and devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend. She was a gracious and giving lady who had a strong faith in God. Dixie loved working in her garden, playing bridge, camping with her ‘Circle of Life’ family at the Box Butte dam, doting on her great-grandchildren, and spending time with her family and friends in Florida and Branson. She was loved by everyone.
A memorial service will be held Saturday June 18th, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Hemingford, NE; Pastor Craig Collins will officiate. Following the service, a luncheon will be served by the FUMC women’s group in the church basement. All are welcome.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Memorial Fund through Bank of the West, Hemingford, Nebraska 69348. Condolences may be sent to 2911 Foothills Rd. Cheyenne, WY 82009. Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel is in charge of cremation.
