December 21, 1926 — July 11, 2014

Dionicia “Nisha” Cassidy went peacefully to be with the Lord on July 11, 2014.
Nisha was born in LeDoux, New Mexico on December 21, 1926 to Miguel and Delfina Romo. She had eight siblings, Pablo, Vincent, Louis, Isabelle, Cleo, Eliza, Delores, Pauline. She met the love of her life, Albert Lawrence Cassidy, in Mora, NM where they grew up together. They married on February 10, 1948 in Sapello, NM. They had seven children together; Michael, Al, Philip, Walter, Addie, Denise and Steve. After their marriage, Nisha and Albert lived with their growing family in Mora, NM for approximately 5 years.
In 1953, they moved their family to Cheyenne, WY, where Nisha worked for DePaul Hospital as a Nurse’s Aide. In 1981, their beloved son, Philip was killed in an auto accident. In 1983 they moved back to Mora, NM where they lived in the home that Albert built along the beautiful Mora River and across from the historic Cassidy Roller Mill.
In 1997, Albert and Nisha retired and moved to be near family in Loveland, CO. In 2002, Albert was called to Heaven and Nisha missed him every single day since.
Nisha is survived by 6 children, 16 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren as well as many, many friends and relatives. She was a devout Catholic and often said that God had the power to call her home when He was ready for her. Nisha lived her life trusting in God. She was a parishioner at St. John XXIII parish in Loveland, CO, St. Gertrude’s in Mora, NM and at various times a parishioner at all three Catholic churches in Cheyenne, WY.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Cassidy, her son, Philip Cassidy, her mother, Delfina Romo, her father Miguel Romo, her brother Pablo, and her sisters Eliza and Isabelle.
Rosary will be recited for her at Wednesday, July 16, 7:00 pm. at St John XXIII Catholic Church, Ft. Collins, CO. Funeral Liturgy will be Thursday July 17th, 10:30 am. at St Mary’s Cathedral, Cheyenne, WY.
Nisha firmly believed that funerals should be a celebration of life, and therefore always asked people not wear black to her son’s and husband’s funerals. The family asks, that in her honor, guest not wear black to the funeral mass and rosary.
Nisha lived her life with incredible kindness, love and compassion and she will be truly missed.
